Located approximately 5,200 light years away features a red
emission nebula, a blue reflection nebula and a dark nebula
(Barnard 85).

Nikon Coolpix 4300 and LX-200. Stack of 6 one minute exposures.

 

 
M42, The Orion Nebula


M42, The Orion Nebula
Located 1500 light years away in the constellation Orion is
this area of stellar nurseries. The Trapezium is the cluster of stars
near the center.
(LX200 with a Nikon 4300 digital camera)

 

 
The Horsehead Nebula


The Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33)
Located 1,600 light years away in the constellation Orion,
this dark nebula is a cloud of dust and non-luminous gas obscuring our
view of the brighter IC 434 sitting behind it.
(sum of six 5 minute images. LX-200 and ST-7E)

 

M74

M74 , A Spiral Galaxy in Pisces
This galaxy is similar in size to our Milky Way at
95,000 light years across. It lies approximately 35 million
light years from Earth.
(sum of three 10 minute images. LX-200 and ST-7E)
